The International Transplant Nurses Society

was founded in 1992 as a non-profit organization, to promote the education and clinical practice excellence of nurses working the in the field of solid organ transplantation. ITNS is a leading respected transplant organization with active members worldwide. ITNS offers a wide range of outstanding patient education materials that are used internationally to enhance the care of transplant recipients.

The Ontario Chapter welcomes both nurses and allied health professionals interested in organ transplantation. Chapter involvement is a tremendous opportunity to extend your network and advance your professional and clinical skills. ITNS offer members the opportunity to network with local colleagues, share information and expertise, and enhance their transplant knowledge through educational dinner presentations, and annual conference events.

In 1993, the Ontario Chapter was chartered, representing the first chapter outside the USA to be granted status. Members of the Ontario Chapter are concentrated in the Greater Toronto Area, typically working at one of the transplant centers at the Hospital for Sick Children, Toronto General Hospital or St. Michael’s Hospital. Our members work throughout the continuum of transplant care from pre-transplant through post-transplant.
